Genting

I just returned from my Genting trip with Agnes, Jo and Yuan Wen. It was not only a fun trip but also a very adventurous one.

Day 1 - We set of early morning to meet at Yio Chu Kang station at 6.50am to catch the 8am bus at Golden Mile Tower. After we passed Singapore custom, we waited a long time under the board that showed a list of bus license plate numbers and their respective parking lot numbers. We didn't see our bus license plate number. We expected a long waiting time because of the jam near the custom but after waiting for quite a while and realizing the disappearance of some of the aunties who took the same bus as us, we started looking for the bus. Just then, we saw our bus carrying all other passengers parked into a lot. The passengers were waving to us and we hurrily board the bus. The driver was very mad with us. When we were alighting for the Malaysia custom, one of the passenger told me that actually they had waited for half an hour for us and after understanding our situation, he told us that we have to search for the bus instead and asked us to follow closely to him. I felt really bad about it because everyone waited for us for so long but it wasn't entirely our fault since the bus driver should have key in his license plate number and the lot number he parked in after he had parked. But well... No point pushing the blame. We just have to be more alert at every stopping point and make sure that we return to the bus earlier. When we reached Genting, it was almost evening. We checked into our hotel room with Jo's third aunt's help and hurry for our dinner at Shanghai 10 before heading out to our Halloween event at the outdoor theme park from 8pm-11pm. The crowd waiting to enter the theme park was crazy! It was totally packed outside and was very squeezy. Halfway through waiting to enter, Agnes decided to just return to the hotel room to rest by herself because she hates pushing and squeezing. Jo, YW and me tried to retain her but respecting her choice, we let her return to the room earlier to rest. The kind of pushing and squeezing closer to the entrance was worse but after entering, it was much better. I got frightened several time by the yells of the staff and some of the rowdy customers. Nonetheless, the night was fun. Three of us got to take the outdoor rides with shorter queues and photos with staffs with scary and creepy make-ups.

Day 2 - The first ride of the day - flying coaster - has ruined my day. After I alighted from the ride, I realised that my phone was no longer in my sweater pocket where I placed it before the ride. I thought that placing there will be safe since we were be flying like a superman and my tummy will press against it, preventing it from dropping out. I felt the phone inside the pocket almost 80% of the ride but didn't expect the phone to slip out towards the end. I notified Shafiq (one of the staff of the ride) about it and he stopped the operation of the ride and went down with 2 other staff to find my phone. He returned with nothing found and I clearly remembered that he asked "Are you Singaporean?" then. I was really depressed. I called Glenn's mom to explain my situation and get my phone line cancelled. I felt bad because this was the second time I lost my phone but aunty was saying that it wasn't entirely my fault that the phone flew out of my pocket. The girls are nice to help me search about the area from outside the fence then we saw my purple mirror case inside the fence. The phone shouldn't land too far from the case if the phone hit on something causing the phone and case to be separated so we tried searching around the area we found the case. Shafiq saw us loitering around the flying coaster and called for us. We told him about spotting my phone case inside the coaster area and even he was surprised that they didn't it on the first search they made. He stopped the ride again and went down to retrieved my case and search around that area but still did not find a trace of my phone. I was disappointed. Shafiq suggested reporting to the security counter about my case. Initially I thought there was no need to because I don't think it will help in any way so we queued for pirate ship. In the queue, I realised I have all my family passport details in my photo gallery because I wanted to book air tickets to Taipei so long I spot sales online. Also, I have once whatsapp my sister my credit card information. I was really worried that all these information might be used illegally. I called my mom to explain the situation and told her not to pay the credit used so that if the person is to use the card information, he can't spend much. At the same time, I also told her to make a police report for me in Singapore. Realizing the seriousness of the situation (though it might be just me thinking too much), we went to the security to make a report after the pirate ship ride. They recorded my passport details then two security guards brought me back to the flying coaster and the ride was stopped once again. This time round, the 2 security guards, Shafiq and myself went down to allow me to find within the area. I searched high and low around the area I found my phone case but nothing was found again. The security guard asked me if I want to make a police report and I replied, "it's okay". A curious Malay customer asked the guards about the situation. Though they converse in Malay, I kind of understood some part of their conversation through their hand gesture. The Malay customer seemed to be saying that the staff might have pocketed the phone. I did not suspect the staff because I find them helpful but Agnes was saying that we cannot judge a book by its cover. Even personally search cannot find the phone, I gave up hope and we went to queue for corkscrew roller coaster ride. The queue was long. My mom messaged Agnes to inform me to make a police report in Malaysia then delete all data in phone using Internet as suggested my Singapore police so we did after the ride. The police station is about 15 mins walk from the theme park plaza. There was like 2-3 police in the station and they seemed to be leisurely doing their work which made me feel quite helpless. But since I only wanted a report in black and white, I waited for a while. A female police then attended to me. Agnes was telling me to say it simply because they don't understand half (or probably more than half) the things I am saying. I tried to speak in simple English, phrases and pauses but it doesn't seem to work. They won't know the entire situation. Just then Cheng Bing came in. He sat at the counter next to the female police attending to me and was busy using his iPhone. A while later, he asked if I can speak mandarin and because I can, the female police tried to push the report writing to him and though he tried to push it away, he helped nonetheless in the end. I explained the entire situation to him with YW beside me and he typed out the report in Malay. He said he could be the translator if Singapore police were to call. Adding on, he told me that he worked 24 hours and is a police officer (probably because he is a
便衣警察 and was afraid that I mistaken him as a admin staff). Throughout the report writing, he took my phone case twice to adjust his cap and hair through the mirror. Funny guy. He was busy being a translator between the other Malay officers and me. Probably because my case was found but not phone, he asked me if there are any suspect I had in mind and, after recalling what the Malay customer mentioned to the guards, I thought it might possibly be the staff. I was taken aback when he said that he was going to 抓人!But upon clarifying, they are actually only going to question the staffs and not handcuff them. Frighten me. After typing the report for me, Cheng Bing went off to have his dinner. Another police officer then lead me to the car, asking me to follow Jay Jai to identify the staff who picked up my phone case. I was pretty afraid that the guy will sell me away because he doesn't allow my peers to follow, ask me a lot of my background details and the car is not a police car. But luckily, I managed to pull YW to go along with me. Jay Jai asked if I can speak Malay but I can't so I suggested asking Cheng Bing to come along as a translator. And indeed he came after Jay Jai called. Jay Jai drove us up to the theme park. It was really cool to be in a police car because Jay Jai was efficient in finding a car park. The traffic police even allow him to park anywhere and anyhow. Haha. But ended up Cheng Bing spotted a proper car park and Jay Jai speedily got into the lot. Along the way, Cheng Bing asked if we have enough space in the back seats and kept shifting his seat forward until eventually he said, "Aiyah! Now I don't have enough space.". Haha! YW and I followed behind Cheng Bing and Jay Jai. Along the way walking to the flying coaster, Cheng Bing was afraid that YW and I will get lost behind them so he walked behind us instead. When we reached the flying coaster, Shafiq was like alamak you again, using his palm to hit his forehead. Nonetheless, the staff still helped by ending the operation of the ride early after the queue is cleared. 3 theme park managers also came to understand the situation. While waiting, the weather turned much more misty and cold. Cheng Bing was shivering and Jay Jai in his cool self had goose bumps all over but he just waited quietly. They didn't bring a jacket along. Very touched! When the ride ceased operation, we went down to search the area again. Everyone, except me who was combing every single tile, was gathering at the area where my phone case was found, understanding the situation and thought of all possible landing spot of my phone. While I am scrutinizing thoroughly, searching high and low, a Malay approached me from outside the fence and asked for the thing I am searching for. I found him familiar and I thought I might have met him before so he was concerned and asked. The conversation went like this:
Man: What are you looking for?
Me: My phone.
Guy: What phone?
Me: iPhone 4.
At this moment, he unzipped his jacket pocket. I just stared blankly, thinking that he was joking with me. Took out a white iPhone from within and hand it to me, asking me, "Is it this?". I was very surprised and thanked him profusely. Later the group of staffs walked over to stop the guy from walking off, asking him where he found the phone and requesting to record his IC. The guy said that he found the phone at the stall next to where my phone case was found. Most likely, the phone hit the fence with the case falling in and the phone falling out. Actually early that day, the girls and myself have combed that area but found nothing. Cheng Bing then asked about the conversation I had with the guy who returned me my phone and I told him. While running through the photos in my gallery, I realised that the guy actually took the phone since 10am plus which is when my phone is lost because he took a number of screen shots. Chances are he doesn't know how to use iPhone and couldn't unlock the phone, and in addition, seeing that the matter got more serious, involving theme park managers and even police officers, he chose to return me my phone. Lucky me! And my lucky phone! It survived despite being thrown out from 2-3 storey height. YW and I followed Cheng Bing and Jay Jai backed to the police station after I gave the theme park managers my passport details for record purpose. Heard from Agnes the technique Jay Jai used his car to push the cone that reserved their parking lot is really funny and that Cheng Bing and Jay Jai were really happy when they alighted the car upon reaching the police station. Everyone is so happy that my phone is found. Haha. Cheng Bing then directed me to the police station again to make another report indicating that my phone is found and the case is closed. We leisurely got the report typed out and I think the 4 of us kept all the police officers very entertained because we can't speak Malay.

I felt both thankful and elated. :D:D:D

We continued the night with indoor rides such as indoor roller coaster and bumper cars.

Day 3 - We had our breakfast at Old Town before heading to our coach to return back to Singapore. Midway down the highland, the coach had 2 of its tyres punctured. We waited for 2 hours for another bus to head up from KL. For the past 2 days, bad things always happened in the late morning and eventually the day will end off with some
贵人 appearing and helped us, so we joked about meeting a 贵人 again later in the day. The bus ride was really long. It was 10 hours (8 hours drive and 2 hours wait). When I reached Singapore, I was starving because I didn't eat anything along the way due to my motion sickness. The bus driver said that he will drop us at jurong easy mrt station but we actually alighted at the middle of nowhere. We asked for direction to the nearest mrt station and a guy directed us to take a bus from the bus stop ahead. We still joked that if that guy is the 贵人 then he should have offered to drive us. But we doubted he drive because he walked away with his friend into a worksite. While waiting for the bus at the bus stop, I randomly flag for car or taxi, suddenly a black car stop in front of us and the driver was the guy who gave us direction a moment ago. He offered to give us a lift. Later we learnt that it is not that the bus driver is mean to drop us at the middle of nowhere because Malaysia coach have only a few designated drop-off point, similarly for Malaysia taxi, there is only 1 pick-up/drop-off point and his name is Desmond. Thanks Desmond! You are really our 贵人! We were famished. We ordered a number of dishes at ichiban sushi to share, still joking that we might meet another 贵人 to foot the bill for us which is highly impossible and if really happen, it will definitely freak all of us out. Haha. Dinner was filling and delicious. We headed home right after dinner since we all need to work/study the next day.

4 of us are really amazed by the creepiness of this entire trip. It was both adventurous and eerie, but nonetheless, FUN!!! :D:D:D

Yesterday, Glenn’s dad bought 猫山王 for my family. The durians are really yummy!!! My family and I really enjoyed eating all of those. Thanks uncle and aunty! :D:D:D

That night Glenn whatsapped me a photo of the round and bright moon taken from his hostel in Norway. So tonight, while I am on my way home, I took a photo of the round and bright moon viewed from Singapore with his most familiarised MRT and whatsapped him.

I've totally enjoyed myself today!!! I had 2 birthday celebrations!!! :D:D:D

Since yesterday, I knew I have to rush everywhere due to my packed schedule today. In the morning, I have to go to 拜太岁with my family because it is 太岁's birthday. In the afternoon, the girls planned to meet to exercise and play bohnanza (though ended up we didn't exercise as expected) and in the evening, I am meeting Glenn's family for dinner.

The girls planned to give me a surprise birthday party but in the end, it seems like they received more shock than I did. In the morning, Allena accidentally whatsapped in the group conversation mentioning something about bringing candles. I have already suspected something. I arrived at Allena's condo later than the other girls because I came from the praying place which is like 40 mins bus ride away. When I reached her gate and whatsapped the girls to open the gate, Allena said that she had tummyache and
the girls asked me to wait though I told them that I wanted to use the toilet urgently. I waited for quite a while until I got a little pissed then I saw someone coming out from the back gate so I hurried in to the condo and headed up to Allena's house. I saw noone in the living room so I attempted to open the door myself and the gate is not locked!

Bak Chor Mee Lunch with Jo :))

I met Jo for lunch today at a coffee shop near my workplace because she was going to Tanjong Pagar for some leg hair removal appointment so she took one more stop to come and meet me! So sweet of her!! :)) We had bak chor mee. This stall noodles is quite nice actually.

This girl is finally going to start working next Monday, which is on my birthday itself, at Orchard. So coincidental! Seems like I can meet her on Fridays to go home together. Heehee. We agreed to meet on this Saturday to exercise again. I am only exercising on every Saturday now which I think is not sufficient but I don’t know which other day I can make time to exercise. Sigh~ I want to lose weight!!!

A fulfilling Sat with Bro and the Girls

This morning I had Mac breakfast with my brother!!! I think I haven't met him since a long time ago though both of us cannot remember if it is 6 months ago or 18 months ago since we last met up at one of the Khatib Central coffee shops for supper. He is currently studying in Perth for a degree in Economics and now back in Singapore during his holidays. It is sweet of him to buy me jelly beans from Australia. LOVE IT!! <3 He will be going to China for exchange on 1st Sept for a year but will be back in Singapore again during CNY. It feels really good to catch up with him today. The topics we talked about on marriage and housing make me feel that we have grown up (not to use the word “older” XP). Everything seems to be going on well on his side which is a good thing. :)) I felt really happy meeting up like this. It is really hard to get him because he always seems to be so busy. But nonetheless it was him who initiated to meet for a meal though I am the one who asked him on FB first whether he is back in Singapore already. HAPPY HAPPY!!! The next time when I will probably meet him should be during CNY when he comes back during his China exchange. Looking forward to then! :D:D

I met Jo and YW in the evening to exercise at Khatib Stadium. We ran 6 rounds of slow jogging, did 100 sit-ups, 50 dips and end off with 2 rounds of half-sprinting-half-walking. It was really tiring. We had dinner at one of the Khatib Central coffee shops. I had Rojak and the two girls shared 2 chicken wings and a plate of satay with ketupat. Oh! And we had fruit juice too! :)) It was very filling. Then they head to my house and we played one round of Bohnanza with my sister. It was quite fun! :D:D:D

While walking to my dinner place from the stadium, Glenn whatsapped me photos of sunrise taken on a hill in Norway. Sun rise is really beautiful!!

I had a fulfilling Saturday!! :D:D:D

Last episode of Secret Garden

I finished my last episode of Secret Garden. IT IS NICE!!! Considered a sweet ending and it really touches my heart. I feel so happy for Kim Joo Won (Hyun Bin) and Gil Ra Im (Ha Ji Won) being together in the end with 3 children. So sweet!!! The only regret is not getting the approval of Kim Joo Won’s mom and so they didn’t get to hold a wedding. But thankfully, his mom loves their children and the couple lives happily ever after... <3

Secret Garden MV – Today More Than Yesterday

Now I am getting the usual hangover again as I always do after every korean drama I watched. I feel so lost. Glenn suggested to get more shows from Cody and my sister suggested to watch other korean drama to get rid of this hangover then continue with this process forever. Haha. Well.. I think I should get back to watch Running Man to cheer myself up. Yoo Jaesuk!!! :D:D:D

Secret Garden

Recently I am so addicted to watching Secret Garden. I wanted to watch this show since 1 year plus ago but keep on didn't have the time to. Finally, I'm watching it now! I really love Hyun Bin and Ha Ji Won a lot. Such a sweet and loving couple though it is just a show. I spent almost my entire long weekends on watching Secret Garden. Now, I’m only left with 2 episodes to the ending. I wonder what I should do after the show ends. I think I will feel lost again like I always do and need several days to get over it. Haha.
Secret Garden MV – You’re My Spring (OST)

I went jogging with Jo on Saturday evening at Yishun Stadium and dinner together at one of the hawker centres in Khatib central. Not bad, I exercise in the gym on the Thursday that just passed and jog on Saturday. I should continue to keep up on exercising until I reach 48kg but I have no motivation at all and my weight just refused to reduce. Zzz~

Glenn finally got his phone in Norway!

YAY!! Glenn finally received his sim card and now we can whatsapp again using his new HTC One X that he purchased there. So happy and excited! I don’t have to log in to FB from time to time again to check if he is online. We can finally chat freely whenever we want. Haha. :D:D:D

Farewell Dinner for Lincoln

Today, I found that it is possible for me to do a overseas postage to Glenn so I can post him food like maggie noodles and japanese curry. Glenn also ask me post his ipod shuffle with cable if possible. I’m also thinking of making a card, which carries all the wishes from Singapore, for him. Then I can simply drop the card into the box to post to him and surprise him.

I made a rough outline of the card and brought it along to the class gathering which is meant to be a 10-06 farewell dinner for lincoln son so that the class can write their wishes for Glenn (since most of them are already there)! He is flying off to Scotland in a week time on 20th August at 8pm for exchange programme. Agnes, Yvonne, Yuanwen, Jo, Allena, Fred, Yihan, Charles, Kangrui, and of course, Lincoln, turned up. We had ajisen dinner at J8 followed by ice cream at Mac. We got a really long chat to catch up on each others’ lives with plenty of jokes and laughters (as expected with Lincoln around). It feels good to hang around with the class. I love JC days... <3

National Day

We had a national day celebration on 8 August and I participated in the choir performance for the celebration so we had been rehearsing a couple of times since last week. We are singing One People, One Nation, One Singapore followed by We are Singapore. I had to recite the national pledge in the song We are Singapore and I was so nervous that day seeing so many people in the audience seats. But luckily everything turned out well and it seemed like we have received accolades from several staff. :)) The catered lunch was delicious. I ate Laksa, Rojak and Ice Kachang.

Jean will be joining my branch on Monday. I hope we can be really good friends to lunch and gym together. All the best to me!!! :))

Yesterday was National day. Wei Chang, Nic, Bernard, Nathaniel, Renny, Christianne and me met up for dinner (supposingly a farewell dinner for Wei Chang who is going to Manchester to study Masters under MOHH scholarship but his flight is actually on 15 Sept so yesterday’s dinner is just a meet up for everyone and we are meeting again on 6 Sept for his farewell dinner). We had dinner at Coco Ichibanya @ 313 and dessert at Cold Stone Creamery @ Orchard Central. I had my Mud Pie Mojo again. Haha. LOVE IT!! We had several hours of chat and it might be possible that we will study part-time Masters in NUS together next year August. I have to see if my motivation to study is still present then. Right now, I am planning to go for Masters but I’m uncertain if the kick will still be there 1 year later. Haha!!

TGIF!!! It’s Friday again!!! I love Friday!!! :D:D:D Weekend is here again. Oh yes! I have program on Sunday!!! YAY!!! I hope I am not lonely without Glenn on weekends. Luckily I’m not this weekend. I have to constantly find program for myself on weekends. Going to J8 Ajisen for a farewell dinner for Lincoln son who is flying to Scotland on 20 August. I hope he doesn’t come back with red checkered skirt and bagpipes though it is highly likely. LOL!! HAHA!!!

10-06 babes hang out @ Allena's house

I had enjoyable weekends!! :))

Since Glenn is not around, I think I should make myself more busy so hopefully time passes faster. Not by working longer hours but by spending more time with my family, relatives and friends.

After work on last Friday, I head straight down to my aunt’s house and stayed over with my mom until Saturday afternoon. I spent the whole time playing with my little nephew. He made me play Beyblade with him. He will fix everything for me and all I have to do is to pull. He is really cute and loveable. He actually put a few snacks into my bag and I’m surprised seeing them after I left my aunt’s house. We went to Junction 10 to eat at Paradise Inn (like again after I had dinner with Glenn and his family at Terminal 1 Paradise Inn the day Glenn flew off), but well, luckily the dishes are different.

Bad news, I received a call from Glenn’s dad on Saturday morning informing me that Glenn got his mobile phone pickpocketed and called him from police station at 3 am (Singapore time) to cancel his line. No wonder I received a call from Glenn’s mobile at 2.09am. The person probably has gotten the phone at that time. Poor Glenn. His mood must have been ruin on the first day he was there. I hope he will get over it soon and enjoy his trip there.

Sunday, I went over to Allena’s house in the late morning after breakfast with my family and we chatted a while before heading to her nearby park to jog. We only jogged for like 15 mins and Allena cannot run anymore. Probably because of the warm weather since we were jogging at noon. After bathing, Von was already at Allena’s house. 3 of us had lunch together. I love the dumplings. It is nice!!! Over the meal, Von told us that she is attached for 2 months already (happy for her!! :D:D:D Lucky for Zi Chao) but she has been keeping it low profile as she was only trying out initially. Jo and Fred came over in the afternoon too. We played Shadow Hunter, Bang!, Asshole Daitee and Bridge (after Fred left). We also have a bit of girls chat before ending the day.

That night after I reached home I skyped Glenn for about 45 mins since I won’t be talking to him until he reaches his student village and has WiFi. Slept pretty late on Sunday night so I am quite tired yesterday.

Glenn will reach Trondheim at 7am (Norway time) and probably settled down in his student village at 1pm (Norway time) so hopefully I can skype him tonight at 7pm (Singapore time) after I reach home for work. Looking forward to it.... :D:D:D

Glenn flew to Norway... :((

I was on Family 10-06!!! wall in FB a moment ago and I discovered the link to our class long lost blog (http://ten-o-six.blogspot.com/). I was scrolling through the blog then noticed that there is a link to Lindy, indicating my blog. I was thinking, “WHAT?!?! I HAVE A BLOG?!?! Like since when?” then I curiously clicked on the link and to my surprise, I did blog when I was in AJC (omg!) and the last entry was on May 28, 2008. LOL!! This is a long (x5) lost blog. I was reading through some entries and realized that there are so many sweet things that once happened in my life that I forgot totally without reading these entries but images start appearing when reading.
Life is so amazing.  :))
But because of our busy lifestyle and living in a world that needs us to remember so many things. More often than not, we forget a lot of things that are sweet and make us smile. Jotting down bits and pieces that happen in everyday life will allow one to remember those beautiful things and people in life. And I want to remember all these things. One day when I am wrinkled and aged, I hope there is something for me to look back and smile at. And I believe that this blog is capable of doing so.

Today is the first day without Glenn. He flew off to Norway last night at 11.35pm for exchange program for 5 months. Backed only on 2 January, 2013. So many of his university friends came to send him off at the airport. He must be really well-liked in school, like he has always been. I feel so happy for him. It is always good to enjoy school life (but without exams). Now my life revolves about working from Monday to Friday and resting on weekends. I have started working in MOH since 16 July, 2012 for 3 weeks already. Working life is boring, stressful and tiring.
5 months without Glenn, I don’t know how my life will be like. Good, hopefully.
